We have been chatting up a storm about this new line here at the Fat Quarter Shop, and now that it's here, we're even happier!! Dandelion Girl is the newest collection by Fig Tree Quilts, full of that trademark palette of soft creams, cinnamons, and olive greens. Joanna Figueroa (also one of our Designer Mystery BOM headliners) talks to us today about the creation of Dandelion Girl.
I am glad to be back again to talk a bit with y’all--even though I’m a true blue Californian, one of my closest friends from college lives in Austin and she has schooled me on terms like “y’all” and “hook ‘em horns” so that I can fit in with the Texan way of doing things like Kimberly does!
Kimberly has asked me to tell you a bit about my newest Spring collection of fabric for Moda, Dandelion Girl! It was inspired by an enchanting little vintage image of a small girl sitting in a meadow surrounded by dandelions... reminding me so much of my own little dandelion girl Ella, age 3, that I couldn’t resist the name or the inspiration!
Not only that, but it is also accompanied by an entire complimentary group of wonderful wovens which include seersuckers, patchworks, tickings and plaids. I think it's wonderful for so many spring time projects including charming girl clothes, fresh table cloths & napkins and “shabby chic” porch pillows. I’ve also really enjoyed mixing it with other of our lines for a wonderful eclectic look - try using any of your leftover Allspice Tapestry or Urban Indigo... Some of the combinations are really wonderful!
