It's summer here in Texas. Lately all the fabric that's come into the store have been beautiful bright colorways that go right along with summer. As pretty as all of those collections are, it's been a great change of pace to see Wildflower Serenade from Kansas Troubles Quilters come in. Deep blues and hunter greens are rounded out with muted tans, soft blacks, and rustic reds, and swirling florals and vines adorn the country prints. In any case, we adore it and have created a special kit for Wildflower Serenade called Lucky Day, and it's our first Charming Jelly Cake as well!
Lois (my number one quilter) is working on a quilt using a Layer Cake and the new Sweet Roll cut (1 ½” x WOF) from Moda for our version of a Roman Stripe. It will feature a lap size, queen size, table runner and more - very efficient use of precut fabric bundles. I love using the precuts because you get a piece of every fabric in the collection for a scrappy look with very little waste. And, the patterns work with virtually any fabric line for even more options. Check out our website at www.KTQuilts.com for several patterns using Charm Packs, Jelly Rolls or Layer Cakes –- or all three!
On a personal note, Deb and I had a great time at the Sandwich Antique Market with Pam Buda a couple weeks ago. I actually found the perfect hanging cupboard with original mustard yellow paint at one of the antique stores in Sandwich the day before the show, so the car was pretty full by the time we even pulled in that morning. Even so, we made room for a couple of other treasures. (Deb is always relieved when she doesn’t have to sit with a chair in her lap all the way home.) Pam promised it was a good show and of course, she was right. We’ll definitely make plans to meet again in the future.Labels: Guest Quilting Writers
