New Patterns from Heartspun Quilts

We adore Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts. She is a sweet lady, so talented, and she has a superb eye for colors and fabrics, AND her patterns are so clear! We got to experience those gifts firsthand with our Heartland Heritage BOM. She has recently released just a few of her newest set of quilt patterns (gotta wait for Spring Market to see the rest!), which we get to showcase here today! And don't forget to start working on your blocks for our Jolly Jabber Block Lottery! We'll be posting an update on that soon. Cannot wait to see what you guys come up with!!

Greetings Jolly Jabberers!!

It’s spring and you know what that means? Spring Quilt Market is taking place later this month and tons of new quilting stuff will soon be flooding the quilt shops. I am releasing 10 new patterns this spring and would love to show you some of them right now!

The Soldier’s Wife was inspired by a very old antique quilt that I saw. I had never seen this setting before and while it looks like the blocks are on point, it is actually a straight set quilt! It is a terrific two-color quilt and would look awesome in any colors you may like. I have been reading a lot of quilt history of late, and named this quilt for the many wives (then & now) who waited for their husbands to return from the war, not knowing what was happening to them. While waiting for word, these women worked on quilts to busy their minds, perhaps on a quilt just like this one!

Sometimes I get an idea for a quilt just from loving the fabrics and that is how Summer Cottage came to be. I purchased the red floral fabric right here at the Fat Quarter Shop (it is Mrs. March’s Antique Rose by Lecien) and one thing led to another and…well that’s how this quilt came to be!

I wanted to design a quilt that could be pieced rather quickly because, like most of you, I sometimes need a quilt, and quick! But…it was important that it have a simple design, was pretty and used fabrics I could gather easily. Ah ha! Use either Moda charm packs or a Moda Layer Cake™ along with some additional yardage for the borders!! That’s how Done in a Jiff came to be. Cut squares, minimal piecing and a bit of additional yardage for a few borders and voilà! No matter what Moda collection you use, it will work! The name says it all!!!

Oh…I’ve always wanted to do a small Trip Around the World quilt and was waiting for just the right fabric line. When I saw Holly Taylor’s fabric line Frosted Memories for Moda, I knew it was a good fit! Small World is made using 2 charm packs & additional yardage for the border. It goes together in a snap!

Last, but certainly not least is No Place Like Home. This little quilt uses 3 charm packs & additional yardage of Kansas Troubles Quilters' new collection Kansas Winter. Regular readers of the Jolly Jabber know how much I love Kansas Troubles fabrics and this is no exception. Four different Flying Geese units are all you need to make the entire quilt! Really! I wholeheartedly agree with Dorothy that there really is no place like home!

It was great catching up with all of you! Stay tuned to the Fat Quarter Shop to see all of my new patterns. I also invite you to visit my Heartspun Quilts website. Toodles for now…wishing you peace while piecing!
