Kansas Troubles Favorites by Kansas Troubles Quilters

Today Lynne Hagmeier, designer of Kansas Troubles Quilters, is here to celebrate her 10th anniversary with Moda! Can you believe 10 years already!? To celebrate she put together everyone's absolute favorite pieces into one collection named Kansas Troubles Favorites (clever name I know, but you definitely won't forget which one it is!) I really cannot imagine how difficult it must have been to narrow the field and select which prints would go into this collection!! Before she gives us a few tidbits I want to give everyone a heads up for her next brand new line coming out in January: Perennials. You can sign up today for notice as soon as it arrives and of course don't forget to check out the Morning Glory Quilt Kit

I know everyone (and definitely I ) vastly appreciates the past 10 years of hard work Lynne has put in with Moda and congrats on this milestone! Keep them coming!! ;-)

I am honored and thrilled to have been with Moda Fabrics for a decade. Over the years, the main comment from quilt shops is that my fabric sells too well! It's hard to keep on the shelves for block-of-the-month or Saturday Sampler programs. The shops have found they need to hide KT bolts in the back room. How crazy! The solution? A basics line. KT Favorites is just that - a collection of about a dozen prints in every colorway to have in the Moda warehouse in between market lines. When a quilt shop is trying to kit a project and runs out of red, we've got it covered! When a quilter pulls out a quilt kit from 5 years ago and runs out of background? We have one that will blend beautifully.

It was such fun going back through the 30 groups over the last ten years of KT fabrics to choose a selection of basics from small prints to tone-on-tones. In a normal year, I design 3 different collections - two classic groups for spring and fall market and a Christmas line that doesn't look too Christmas-y. We aren't able to have all the different KT colors in every fabric line, so Favorites includes everything from our traditional deep reds, navys and greens to a variety of warm tans to rich pumpkins, golds, eggplants and black. Something for everyone!

The best part is it will blend with past KT collections as well as those coming out in the future. So now is the time to stock up on KT Favorites precuts because even though the yardage will be available for a while, the precuts are only available for a short time - at your quilt shop right now. Mixing precuts from KT Favorites with, for example, Summer's End (or the new Perennials line available in Januray) gives you 80 different fabrics in a scrappy collection to play with in your quilt designs. Collect extra charm packs as an instant charm stash when you need just a few more gold squares for a small project. You can never have too many precuts!

I hope you enjoy playing with some of my old favorites and would love to hear what your favorite KT fabrics have been to include in future KT Favorites' collections.

Let's celebrate the holidays: Giveaway style!

So Thanksgiving is tomorrow.. do you have all the food prepped yet? I've made some pumpkin pies so far... but everything else I need to prepare is happening tonight!... no, not stressful! ;-).. but of course sooo worth it!... Then the next day it's Black Friday.. are you planning to fight the crowds at the malls or just use your clicking finger (per say at Fat Quarter Shop..hehe) at your own home? Either way we have a lot to (stress then) celebrate this week. :-)

One way we are celebrating is sponsoring a few giveaways on Qubee Quilts Blog!  Charlie (Qubee Quilts blogger) is on his way to have 500 followers and once that happens the giveaways will begin!  First he will be selecting one of his 500 followers to win the following:

1. A Chenille Baby Quilt Kit that includes the following:
      - 1 City Weekend Charm Pack
      - 1/2 yard chenille - Sashing
      - One Fat Quarter - Binding (your choice of boy or girl fabric)
      - 1 yard backing
2. A $25 gift certificate to Fat Quarter Shop

After that, Charlie will post an additional opportunity on how you can win a $50 gift certificate to the Fat Quarter Shop on his blog.  So lets get him to 500 so we can celebrate with some giveaways!! :)

On another note we will also be posting some "fun" (..not to give too much away..) throughout the week on our Facebook and Twitter to help celebrate this holiday week!  If you haven't liked us or followed us yet, it might be just the time to do so! ;-)

Wishing everyone a very special Happy Thanksgiving!!

New in the Moda Bake Shop!

Yesterday we visited Shruti at 13 Woodhouse Road. I'm really excited about this topic of conversation, so I just had to share it with you all too! Ohh, the exciting things Moda come up with....

Quilt Market has past and, of course, everyone stepped it up from the year before! This year Moda came up with some exciting new ways to present their fabrics – how about Candy Bar Boxes in two new colorways!! Fat Quarter Shop calls them Golden Caramel and Chocolate Almond. If you are not familiar with the Candy Bar boxes, which were introduced as a special last season, each box consists of four delicious candy bars (40 pieces of 2.5” x 5” fabric). Each candy bar consists of some of Moda’s top lines of the season!

The Golden Caramel Candy Bar Box includes the following collections:

The Chocolate Almond Candy Bar Box includes the following collections:

And we are offering a Twin Pack with a special price.

If you are not sure how to use the Candy Bar Boxes we have a free pattern by Sandy Gervais on our website using the Candy Bars!

The big surprise this season is a chance to win a Golden Ticket in one of the Candy Bar Boxes! Some of the Candy Bar Boxes have a Golden Ticket, which entitles you to a gift bag full of Moda “sweets” (with a retail value of $150.00)! Each Golden Ticket winner gets put into a hat for a chance to win the Grand Prize - a red carpet grand tour of the one and only Moda Fabrics facility! The Grand Prize includes not only the once in a lifetime change to tour Moda land, but also provides transportation and accommodations for the winner and a guest! That’s three glorious days and two nights in Dallas, Texas. The Moda Bake Shop boxes will come shrink wrapped to prevent tampering.

So sign up today to reserve your Moda Candy Bar Boxes at the Fat Quarter Shop and hopefully you will win a trip to visit Moda!

Lilly & Will by Bunny Hill Designs + 100 Blocks winners

Finally, it's here! Lily & Will is at the Fat Quarter Shop. Pretty much the most adorable, yet sophisticated, fabric for those classy newborns and it actually has a very special attachment to us at the Fat Quarter Shop! (Anne Sutton - owner and creator of Bunny Hill Designs- is going to share that with you later...). Also, have you seen the Whooo Loves You Quilt Kit exclusively at the Fat Quarter Shop yet? It's completely precious with a cute little owl and all! I was actually really wanting to purchasing this one myself.. only if I had a cute little baby to match it.. orrrr.. maybe i'll just make it for myself!! ;-) Anywho, Anne's here, so I shall hand over the keyboard to her!

I’ve been waiting forever to write this post! When Kimberly was expecting twins, I was dreaming up Lily & Will. She was the one who encouraged me on! Finally, I can announce that Lily & Will has arrived at The Fat Quarter Shop! You’ll find bolts and bolts of my first Moda fabric line in stock right now! I’m so excited I can’t believe it! Moda’s even given the fabrics names:

Let me introduce you to Babies Breath!

Say hello to Dimple Dots!

And meet Cottontail Toile! I want to give this one a great big hug!

Aren’t these the cutest fabric names ever?

Designing patterns with Lily & Will was so much fun! I wanted something for every mother so you’ll find a range of pieced and appliqué quilts, burp cloths, blankets. There’s even a pattern for drapes and a crib skirt!

I love to embellish at Bunny Hill, so I’ve added a pleated satin ruffle to the Lily & Will line that will “finish” any project. Think of all the things you can do with a premade pleated satin ruffle! Trim a lamp shade, stitch it to the edge of a quilt, trim a hat, sleeves, the bottom of a jacket, or use it for blanket edging.

Sewing with the satin ruffle is so easy! The outer edge of the ruffle is finished with an overlock stitch so there’s no raveling at all! You can just cut and sew! It’s soft, shinny and oh so yummy!

Wrap your baby in luscious textures, prints and colors. I hope you love Lily & Will as much as I do!

What’s coming up next at Bunny Hill? Moda’s giving Lily & Will an encore! Lily & Will II is right around the corner!

Till next time,
Anne

Lollipop by Sandy Gervais

"Lollipop lollipop, Oh lolli lolli lolli, Lollipop lollipop..."  do I have the song stuck in your head yet...?  Well it sure is stuck in mine now! ;-) ... Well today we are presenting.. you guessed it... Lollipop by Sandy Gervais!  It's such a cute and upbeat line and we even have an adorable Quilt Kit and several patterns for it that Sandy is going to talk about later on... Well let's just get to it... but first let's step into our kids' shoes because Sandy put hers on this morning! ;-)... here she is the adorable Sandy Gervais...

Lollipop

The first thing I like to do when I design a line of fabric is come up with a name. I love how the word Lollipop rolls off your tongue. And who doesn't like a Lollipop. So Lollipop it is.

I tried to make this line as much fun as an all day lollipop. The prints consist of polka dots, flowers, fish, lollipops, and plaids, all in colors you would find in an all day lollipop.

I had tons of fun designing the panel. Mr. Monkey and his friends are on their way to a birthday party. They have cut through the park to grab a lollipop from the Lollipop tree. They ask if the fish are biting. Mr. Alligator says they are. Maybe they will stop back after the party to do a little fishing and play a game of kick ball.

This line works great for a kid’s line but can easily convert to an everyday line as well. I designed eight quilts using this line of fabric. Four of them are geared towards kid and four of them are everyday.

Pattern #502 Oopsie Daisy uses the Charm Pack™. This quilt features dimensional flowers, covered buttons and a little bit of appliqué. For your convenience, Fat Quarter Shop is kitting this pattern. You may purchase the kit right here. In fact you can purchase all of the patterns, precuts and yardage right here at Fat Quarter Shop.

That's all for now, I am off to continue designing my next line of fabric, which will debut at Spring Market. Yes SPRING Market and I started even before Fall Market! My world turns very fast. Enjoy Lollipop. Email me your finished projects. I love to see your creativity.

 From my heart,
Sandy

Modern Affair by Pat Bravo

With 18 skus of elegant fun Modern Affair was sculpted by Pat Bravo of Art Gallery Fabrics. She always finds a new way to up-do her fun flair and wow these prints are adorable.  I can see about 30 different skirts alone made out of this line.  Well, now it's about time to introduce her once again.  The lovely Patricia Bravo...:

I'm so glad to introduce to you Art Gallery Fabric's latest collection: Modern Affair. This in- house designed line is one of our most eclectic collections so far; Modern Affair plays with texture and color, presenting hand drawn florals, a new take on peacock feathers, and stunning art nouveau wallpapers that are mixed with today's organic trend.

The Essential Tote available at the Fat Quarter Shop next week. Reserve your patter now.

When it comes to color, this collection offers two different palettes; "Serene", and "Passionate", full of explosive turquoises and oranges that work perfectly with neutral grays.

It has a very summery, resort feel and is perfect for relaxed, outdoorsy dresses and accessories!

Its refreshing hues and clean lines will inspire you to make comfy pillows for your R&R moments and simple quilts; think log cabins, square in square, why not try two-color hexagons?

I hope you enjoy it and make gorgeous new projects!

Love,
Pat.

Quilt Aid USA 2010 and LOTS of winners!

Once upon a time a couple designers.. or maybe exactly 12...half Australian, half American.. were asked to design one block each for the Addis Ababa Fistula Hospital in Ethiopia.

Kathy Schmitz Block found @ FQS
Lynette Anderson found @ FQS

The other 10 designers are Helen Stubbings, Annie Downs, Sue Daley, Bronwyn Hayes, Natalie Lymer, Anne Sutton, Bari Sue, Brenda Riddle, Robyn Pandolph and Terri Denkenholb.  Are you imagining how cute the blocks are yet!?

(You can find the rest of the blocks at the Quilt Aid USA website and on the following picture)

Then another day they asked Mrs. Kimberly Jolly (who IS the Fat Quarter Shop-- hints "Jolly" in our blog name)  to design a finishing kit... which completed the charity quilt!

The two shown blocks and quilt kit are available exclusively at Fat Quarter Shop.  You can head over to the Quilt Aid website for more information and to learn where you can buy the rest of the blocks!

*******

Sooo apparently it was really hard to stop giving things away (again) the past few days.. because we have a good lineup to announce winners for!! Plus... After slaving away at each of the Moda Designer booths, I came home with 4 of these:

It's a hankie stamped/ signed by each of the designers that had a booth at Market. (And yes, those heads are their actual profiles.. how cute right!) Sooo that means ONE for each of the "Fall Market '10" winners!  Almost like your husband getting an autographed football from his favorite NFL team, right!? (Could be worth millions some day... hehe) ;-)  But something super adorable that they did with the hankie at market was turning it into a little pillow.. Very easy project that makes a fabulous keepsake!

Soo now on with announcing the 5 winners.. First I will state the title of the post, then state the winner directly below:
