Q: What was the first seed that grew into the Spooktacular Too collection?
A: I've always adored Halloween, so it feels natural and exciting for me to come up with new ideas for it. When I’m creating illustrative fabrics – especially for Halloween or Christmas, I’m always inspired by the wonderment of children. To elicit that kind of reaction for this collection, I decided that creating little critters having fun with Halloween images was the way to go. So it started with painting the little kitties playing hide and seek with the patterned pumpkins then the critters cavorting on the spooky witches' hats, and the rest of the collection came from there. It was the fabulous Karen Junquet over at Henry Glass who came up with the name, and I just loved it.

Q: What are 3 Words/ Images you would choose to describe this collection?
A:
1. Frolicking
2. Silly
3. Delightful

Q: What single print/SKU in the collection is your favorite (can only pick one!)?
A: Pumpkin Hide and Seek with Cats is my favorite as it was a sequel to the “Pumpkin Hide and Seek with Mice”, which was a best seller for the first “Spooktacular” collection. Last year when I was down at The City Quilter in NYC, I was absolutely thrilled to see a gorgeous quilt hanging on the wall and this fabric was featured prominent on it.

Q: What is your dream project using this collection?
I have 12 foot high ceilings and a bay window in my living room, so it has to be curtains for next Halloween.

Debbie's Silly Secrets:

1. Where did you grow up and where do you call home?
I grew up in Scotland, I live in NYC, but my home is wherever my husband and kids are……too corny?….... sorry!

2. Do you have any pets and what are their name(s)?
Too many allergies in my household unfortunately, but my son Jules does have a snail called, wait for it, Snaily - we're not very original in the Taylor-Kerman household, maybe I should ask for Karen's help if we ever get a fish.

3. What color are you thinking about today?
A beautiful periwinkle blue/purple color. I was working on a Christmas design today and I used this color as a background. I had a fight in my head that it was “too purple” for Christmas, but it really was a scrumptious color.

4. What is the most important part of a sandwich?
Tomatoes (farm fresh, with salt and pepper on them preferably – yum, it’s making me hungry).

5. What is your favorite fabric print ever (excluding your own)?
That’s a tough question, but I have to say I’m a sucker for just about any polka dot fabric, the larger scale the better.
