It's Sew Emma Spotlight: Apple Dumpling with Kimberly Jolly

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be sharing about my new Apple Dumpling quilt!

I was in love with this fabric from the moment I first laid eyes on Little Apples line by Aneela Hoey. I'm usually more of a traditional kind of gal - just ask my stash of 3 Sisters goodies from over the years - but who could NOT love these adorable prints! I particularly love the fact that one of her daughters was the inspiration for some of her prints - girl after my own heart! And the colors are both old-school and refreshingly hip, so I felt like it was begging for a design that mirrored those aspects - something hip but traditional that would really show off Aneela's awesome illustrations.

That's how my Apple Dumpling design came about! I started with easy strips and flying geese. You really get to admire all of Aneela's work in each easy-peasy piece. Then I arranged the strips and flying geese together in a contemporary fashion that really makes it sparkle. I chose a white background to really make the slate gray, red, aqua and olive combo pop!

Apple Dumpling is a fun and timeless design! I love that these Little Apples prints and colors will be something Emma will never outgrow, so she has a quilt to treasure always!
