100 Blocks Blog Tour

Happy Monday everyone!  Volume 4 of Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks is now hitting stores (and will be online in our shop any day!)!! Twice a year, Quiltmaker comes out with a special edition called 100 Blocks where they select block designs from 100 designers. We are so fortunate to again have two of our own blocks in this issue. It is so thrilling to see our blocks in print!

Kimberly Jolly’s block, Hometown Star, is #382 and Debbie Taylor’s block, Jeremy Giraffe, is #359.

Kimberly’s Hometown Star

I am so happy that my block was selected to be in Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks. It is so exciting to see it in print alongside a wonderful variety of other block designs!

I chose Kansas Troubles Favorites fabric by Kansas Troubles Quilters as my starting point for this block. I really enjoy rich, traditional country colors. They sparkle like little jewels against the creams and tans! I wanted to do a star block, something that would let the rusty red, navy blue, and forest green shine! This is a block that quilters of all skill levels can easily make and love.

I hope you pick up this edition and enjoy making this block! I’d love to see what you come up with!

Debbie’s Jeremy Giraffe

I am so happy to be part of this wonderful magazine. I am always so amazed at the creativity in the quilting world and am happy to be part of that group.

When I saw the Meadow Friends collection by Deb Strain for Moda Fabrics, I was drawn to create something from this line. I wanted it to be something very whimsical and kid related so I came up with a giraffe! I had lots of colors to choose from in this collection but the yellow polka dots seemed perfect for his body. The prairie points make a perfect “mane” and if you have never made prairie points before, this is a good chance to try them on a small scale. The block is easy and fun to put together, so much fun in fact, that I made three additional blocks and created the wallhanging on page 89!

This edition of the magazine is available now and I hope you are inspired by all the pattern designs.
