Cluck. Cluck. Sew Patterns + Giveaway

Today we have a very special guest who just came out with ten new (extremely hot) patterns now available at Fat Quarter Shop. So hot in fact we had to reorder them a week after we received them! Luckily they shipped super fast so we are all stocked up again as of today! Anywho, this new diva you might have heard over on the blog Cluck. Cluck. Sew. Well now she is expanding her voice here at Fat Quarter Shop.

My name is Allison Harris and currently I live in Eastern Idaho with my husband and two small boys. I grew up sewing a little, but making quilts never crossed my mind until a few years ago when I caught the quilting bug. About the same time, I started writing and posting my projects to a blog called Cluck. Cluck. Sew. I started by mainly sharing quilting tutorials, and then tutorials slowly became patterns, and now writing patterns has become something I truly love to do.

I try to write patterns that are simple, easy to follow, and won't leave a beginning quilter frustrated and discouraged.

As a young Mom I know that time is precious, and its nice to have a quick quilt project that will give me a sense of accomplishment in my day amongst the housework and diapers. So when I'm writing patterns and choosing which projects to publish, I try to think of what I would want to sew...and cross my fingers somebody else will want to sew it too!

I've had an amazing opportunity to receive feedback from my blog readers, and I'm so thankful for the support and encouragement they give me. Some days definitely feel like a balancing act, but its a balancing act I love and I hope that I can continue to find balance between the things I love....and quilting is definitely one of them!

- Allison

And now guess what it's time for....!? You guessed it, it is time for a giveaway! Today it will be 5 Cluck. Cluck. Sew patterns of the winners choice (you can find all 10 of them here). To enter comment on this post telling me which 5 patterns you would like. Then choose one of those patterns and tell me which line of fabric you would make with that pattern besides the one it shows in the picture.

Contest will close Wednesday, February 2nd. Good luck!

Dilly Dally by Me & My Sister Designs

If you haven't dilly dallied around at the Fat Quarter Shop lately, you might not have seen that Dilly Dally by Me & My Sister Designs is officially available! Well today the dynamic duo (and yes I underline dynamic- these girls are a hoot just like their designs) is here to introduce their new line. So here, I present to you the lovely, Barb & Mary...

Dilly Dally is here and the Fat Quarter Shop has it all! Mary and I love this group … one of our all time favorites!

Our inspiration came about when looking through some of the prints from our “Favorites” group. We have always loved the flower petals that originally showed up in our Strawberry Lemonade group.

Well this got us to thinking and before we knew it we had the focal print for Dilly Dally!

Then we tossed in some floppy flower petals … and Dilly Dally came to be!!!

We also have all new patterns to go with the group…

We hope that you have as much fun working with our new prints and patterns as we had designing them!

If you would like to win this Dilly Dally fat quarter bundle CLICK on over to our website and leave a comment. Hurry on over… and don’t Dilly Dally!!!

Swiss Chocolate by Amanda + Giveaway!

Today we have a special guest all the way from North Carolina. Designer of Swiss Chocolate, Amanda Murphy is here to gossip a little about her new line. Be careful as you read on though... your mouth just might start salivating... Well, here she is...

I'm so pleased to introduce you to "Swiss Chocolate", my second line of quilting fabrics for Robert Kaufman.  You can already find it here at the Fat Quarter Shop! The inspiration for this line comes from the delicate scroll-work motifs on confectioner's packaging...

And the drizzled swirls of fudge that adorn the candies themselves...

Of course, a delicious box of chocolate always comes bound with a ribbon, also perfect for binding a quilt!

It is always fun to play with scale. This is my version of an oriental rug (chocolate, of course) gone wild, scaled so you can see more of the fabric:

There are 8 patterns in this line, in two color stories. "Espresso" - the original color palette for this line showcases creams and brown, accented with rich reds and salmons, which are favorites of mine.

I also developed an alternative palette of tans and blues, called "Mocha". It is especially fun to play with this family on a dark background, like the one on the middle left! Really makes those blues pop!

The designs on the middle row work with either color story. There will be six Swiss Chocolate quilts coming out in magazines over the next few months and they are all very different; some are in the Espresso Color Story, and some are in Mocha, but they can be used interchangeably if you prefer one color story to the other. I really enjoyed juxtaposing the traditional feel of the prints themselves and the light and dark fabrics in modern quilt designs. I'm so excited that Fat Quarter Shop will be kitting many of these! (They're also kitting a quilt from my Ambrosia line for Quilts and More.) One of my favorite parts of being a textile designer is seeing the creative things people do with my fabric, so if you make something fantastic out of "Swiss Chocolate" please hop on over to my website and or blog and share - I'd love to see your creations!

Back to working on quilts for my next collection, "Veranda", which will debut at Spring Market. Thanks for inviting me to guest-blog on one of my favorite sites!

Amanda

Ok, now I'll give you a second to wipe the drool off your lip.. (although there might be more in about 2 seconds) because it's time for a giveaway!  Today we are going to tease you with two fat quarter bundles.. that is one Espresso and one Mocha Swiss Chocolate bundle.  Drooling again yet?  I know I could definitely go for a scrumptious Swiss Chocolate candy bar right about now....

To enter leave a comment on this post telling me which bundle you would ideally receive and what you would make out of it.  This contest will close Wednesday January 12th @ midnight CST.
