It's Sew Emma Spotlight: Urban Grunge

Hey guys!
I’m excited to tell you a little about one of our new It’s Sew Emma patterns, Urban Grunge. It’s a little departure from our past quilts, but we’re always trying new things around here, and well, it works!

This little guy (seems like it would be a guy, right?) started with the pattern. When I was little, we had a huge stereo system – the kind that played cassettes, laser discs and records and stood about four feet high. There was a huge screen for the equalizer and I always found it very visually interesting. (I don’t know if we put that thing to good use; I don’t recall ever playing records on it, but we did play a lot of Barbie music cassettes!)

Those images become the inspiration for this pattern design, and it felt like it needed a contemporary partner. Enter Curious Nature by Parson Gray. Yes, that very handsome gent with the booth next to Amy Butler.

This collection is so right for this pattern because it has that hard edge and rock-ish feeling it needed. The neat rows give Urban Grunge structure, and the solid background help the contrasting prints pop. I love how you have just a few pieces floating about, like they just haven’t settled yet.

This Urban Grunge quilt would be a great addition for a den or dorm room, or maybe quick and easy gifts for the guys in your life!

Store owners can find this at United Notions as ISE-127.
