Designer Tidbits: Andalucia II

The Fat Quarter Shop is excited to welcome Patty Young to the Jolly Jabber. Patty’s latest fabric collection is Andalucia II from Michael Miller Fabrics.

Q: What or who would you dedicate this collection to? Do you have an inspiration board?
A: This collection would definitely have to be dedicated to my dear husband, Jon. The original Andalucia collection, first released in 2008, was inspired by our honeymoon in the southern region of Spain, Andalucia.

Q: What is your favorite project using this collection?
A: My favorite project made with Andalucia 2012 is this dress we made for my oldest daughter, Sophie. It is from a yet to be released pattern, called Claudia.

I think I love it because she fell in love with it when she first saw it and actually asked to wear it to her school concert... any mom of a 10-going-on-16 year old knows that at that age, those moments are far and few between.

Q: If time travel became possible, what year would you want to be in?
A: I am completely obsessed with Mid-century Modern furniture and buildings. I love that whole "Mod" era as seen in shows like Mad Men and Pan Am. I would love to be transported to the late 50's or early 60's so that I might experience it firsthand (but only briefly... I don't think I could live without my iPhone and laptop for too long!).

Q: If you had to change your first name what would you change it to?
A: I think I would enjoy something more exotic or unique sounding, like Genevieve or Gabrielle or Eloise. I also love a strong-sounding name, like Paige. That is my daughter, Sophie's, middle name.

Q: What was your favorite childhood TV show?
A: I loved Super Friends, ("Wonder Twin powers activate!"...) haha!

I also loved the Flintstones and have so many memories of sitting by the TV on Saturday mornings eating cheesy toast and drinking hot cocoa.

Q: What is your favorite App to play on your phone?
A: My favorite game App is Angry Birds... I could play that for HOURS! My favorite non-game App is Shazam... my memory fails me all the time in my old age so I need an app that tells me what song I'm hearing and who sings it. ;)

Q: If you could marry a technology, what would it be?
A: Definitely my iPhone... no question about it. I already proposed.
