Q: What or who would you dedicate this collection to? Do you have an inspiration board?
A- Deborah: I would dedicate this collection to Toronto’s Chinese community who gave the gift of Ginkgo trees to the city. Bordering Toronto’s Chinatown, Ginkgo trees grace the front of the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Royal Ontario Museum. I passed the art gallery everyday while attending Ontario College of Art and Design where I studied textile design and I was so intrigued by the simplicity and shape of the Ginkgo leaf. At various times in my career, I have used Ginkgo leaves as a design motif. After 30 years as a designer.

A- Linda: I bow to the experiences of Deborah!

Q: What is your favorite project using this collection?
A- Deborah: That’s a tough question to answer. All of the pattern designers created such beautiful patterns that really showcase the fabric. I can narrow my favorites down to two, Sandy Beaches by Norah McGuire-McLeod and Glimmer by Kate Mitchell, which look great in both palettes.

Sandy Beaches
Glimmer

A- Linda: I love the Glimmer project by Kate Mitchell

Q: If time travel became possible, what year would you want to be in?
A- Deborah: If time travel were possible, I would be here, right now in 2012. There is not time like the present and l love what I am doing.

A- Linda: I think it would be fun to see what new inventions technology would bring us in the future. Especially those inventions related to the fields of art and design.

Q: If you had to change your first name what would you change it to?
A- Deborah: If you asked me this as a child, I would have changed my name to anything, but I have become accustomed to my name and would not want to change it to anything else.

A- Linda: I am very comfortable with my name and myself. It took me many years to get here, so I think I will stay who I am.

Q: What was your favorite childhood TV show?
A- Deborah: The Partridge Family and The Brady Bunch.

A- Linda: The Monkeys (poor Davy Jones).

Q: Who is the most famous person you have ever met?
A- Deborah: Stacy Keach would be among the most famous people I have met. I ran into him in the lobby of the Hotel Raphael in Paris where we were both staying; he was busy filming Hemingway.

A- Linda: I have met many people who could be considered famous but it is difficult to define fame so I would refrain from naming one.

Q: What is your favorite App to play on your phone?
A- Deborah: Definitely Scrabble!

A- Linda: Hidden objects and casino games.

Q: If you could marry a technology, what would it be?
A- Deborah: My Mac…my husband is convinced that I have been having an affair with mine for years! With my Mac I can create fabric, edit photos, Google everything I ever wanted to know, catch up with friends and family living all over the world, talk to other designers or just get inspired; I can do anything and unlike a PC, it never lets me down!

A- Linda: I have to concur with Deborah's answer. Right now I have an iPod, iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad, 2 Macbook Pro's, 3 Mac Pro's and an Apple TV. I would say that I have a serious crush on Apple products!
