It's Sew Emma Spotlight: Patchwork Forest

It’s been a while since we featured an It’s Sew Emma pattern, so I’m happy to show you Patchwork Forest today!

I do enjoy a nice Christmas quilt, but I lean towards the ones that are not over-the-top. I can be merry enough with some nice bright fabric in holiday hues. This is what I wanted to achieve with Patchwork Forest, a simple holiday quilt that uses elements of fabric to spread the cheer. Anyone can make this quilt; in fact, I highly encourage you to make this your first Christmas quilt!

Kate Spain’s collection Joy fit the bill; bright Christmas trees, a mess of Christmas lights and snowflakes in true red, green and white with a punch of aqua. It says Christmas, but with some funk.

For Patchwork Forest, I simply arranged a row of evergreens along the top row. Below that, a “patchwork” (simple squares with sashing and cornerstones) of Joy belays the merry message. (Those squares are perfect for non-Christmassy focal prints as well.)

With a simple setting, you have yourself a quick holiday quilt large enough for your whole family to snuggle under. Or choose some other seasonal fabrics and enjoy this pattern year-round!

Shop owners, you can find Patchwork Forest as ISE-129 at United Notions, Checker and Brewer.
