Kevin and I began dating in 1998, and his love of Texas sports was evident. Just two years after I began quilting, I noticed that he was in dire need of a new blanket, as the one on his couch was a little worse for the wear. Naturally, I decided to make him a UT quilt!
I designed this quilt using Electric Quilt software. The entire quilt is made using 1,116 squares using two Kona solids. The borders finish at 3 inches. I chain-pieced each row so the quilt only took about eight hours to complete. I believe I used tangerine (not exactly burnt orange, but close enough!) and bleached white. I asked the quilter for a simple cross-hatch design. It is a quilt Kevin treasures, especially during UT football season. Hook ‘em Horns!

That is SO fantastic! 1000+ squares. yikes. :)

How great is that?! You should make that a pattern - I'm certain it would be a huge hit! However, I would not be able to make it as I am an Aggie and bleed maroon! So, if you make a TAMU one, I'll make that! LOL! Gig-em!
In a slightly brighter orange color, this would mean "Go Vols" in the State of Tennessee. You could probably sell a lot of patterns here.
This is great (and your husband obviously loves it too)! I'm a Wyoming alum, so I have fond memories of watching football games in college. :)
I love this!!!! Hook em horns!
Great quilt! Perfect for Kevin! Too bad it's not purple and gold - geaux Tigers! :)
Love this Quilt. Looks Wonderful. I'm curious how were you able to make the label? I would like to add personalized labels to my quilts.

I made a similar mosaic pattern for NC State for my husband in honor of our 2nd anniversary last year. It was a great way to use up all my red and black scraps! I love the simplicity of the two colors, though! Here's to a fun football season!!
Beautiful quilt! Hook 'em Horns-from one big fan to another!
