It's Sew Emma Spotlight: Bordeaux


hi again. jolly jabbers. rachel here from ps i quilt.

i have a treat for y'all.
i'm still playing the mix traditional with modern game.

look at this beauty:


she's all dolled up looking perfectly traditional.
i love those traditional quilts, don't y'all?

well lookie at this knockout:

i do love me some modern looking quilts too.

i love it when designs/patterns can pull off a double life, don't y'all???

we're going to give FIVE lucky peeps a bordeaux pattern of their own.
to enter, go look at fat quarter shop's coming soon page.
pick two fabric lines, one traditional and one modern.
then come back here and leave a comment telling us which lines you'd like your bordeaux quilts to be.

For traditional I would choose Double Chocolat by 3 Sisters or Everlastings by Sandy Gervais. For modern I would choose Hot Chocolate by Jacqueline Savage McFee or Marmalade by Bonnie & Camille. For the traditional version, I would use Indigo Crossing by Minick & Simpson.

For the modern version - hmmm... tougher to narrow down! I think I would use Ripple Salt Water by Tula Pink. I was also tempted by Meg Hawkey's Blotted Inkwell and Parson Gray's Babylon Seven Wonders.

Wow picking colors is so challenging for me. And there is such an amazing selection. But I think I would go with Dark Chocolat and Dancing in the Rain Batiks.

Such a beautiful pattern! Love the versatility of modern or traditional. It's cool to see the two together to see the variations you can get with one pattern and different fabrics.

I think i'd try a low volume version using Camel & Fawn Creamery Neutrals by The Buggy Barn for Henry Glass Fabrics for the traditional version and Gypsy by Skipping Stones Studio for Clothworks Fabrics for the modern.

For a traditional look I would TOTALLY do this in Minick and Simpsons Indigo Crossings. (Actually this is going to the top of my "must make" list)
For a more modern look, I think I'd choose Sweetwater's Noteworthy. Thanks for the shot at the WONDERFUL pattern!

Hi! This quilt pattern lends itself so nicely to all different types of fabrics.
For a modern quilt, I would like to use Babylon Seven Wonders.
For a traditional quilt, I would go with Warmth Collections for a Cause.

For a modern, I'd pick one of the "All Hands on Deck", and make a cute kid-quilt ... For a (slightly) more traditional feel, I might choose batiks, like the "Totally Tropical Batiks" (Does that count as traditional enough?!) :-)

For the traditional I go for Athill from Cabbages and Roses, for modern it has to be marmalade from Bonnie and Camille. I have both in my stash and am busy collecting more marmalade as it becomes available.
