Emily Cier's new book, Pixel Play is full of childish charm. Each project is filled with creativity, imagination and most importantly color. Emily uses solid squares and lines to create recognizable images and characters, which is enough to woo any youngster. And isn't that what it's all about, impressing our little ones?
Every pattern uses Kona Solids and consists of strips and squares of solid color. One missed step and your image is unrecognizable. But have no fear! Emily's diagrams are easy to follow and the book is packed full of tips and tricks for organizing your materials and assembling your quilt tops.
Using an alternative palette can quickly transform the quilt, giving it a whole new feel. Just a quick switch of the Kona color combinations can change your quilt from girly to masculine. And with a variety of themes including fish, cars, flowers and snowflakes, the posibilities are almost endless. Whether it is for your child, a niece or nephew, a friend's child or your inner child, Pixel Play has you covered.
Pixel Play will definitely spark my children’s imaginations. Anything that gives them freedom to create and think outside the box has my seal of approval. Emma has started doing this thing where she takes my scraps and fashions it into little objects, like this. I just sewed up the sides for her and she’s happy as a clam with her ‘pillow’.
And now for our Pixel Play giveaway! But what will you be winning?
It's a mystery! All winners get a copy of Pixel Play, but what will your box include? Maybe a Robert Kaufman color card? Or some Aurifil 50wt thread for piecing your pixelated world? Or maybe C&T Publishing's Ultimate 3-in-1 Color Tool? Or maybe some Carolina Patchworks patterns? Every box will be a surprise -- just like Christmas when you were a kid!
Comment below letting us know what character you would pixelate for a chance to win. Winner will be chosen Monday 10/15, good luck.
Oh, be sure to follow along with the rest of the tour for more chances to win!

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 278 of 278 Newer› Newest»I have made a couple pixel quilts and I LOVE them, but they were all gifts, so none at home with me! I have made a mario brother;s quilt and 2 sock monkey quilts
I would probably start with some old video games - since they're pre-pixelated!
What a great giveaway! I would Pixel a Star Wars character and a monkey for my Grand children.
It would be fun to do any character, like Snoopy or Big Bird. I might do Nemo for my nephew. Fun idea.
So cute! I would like to see a mermaid!
I'd pixelate SuperMario. :-)
I would like to do a butterfly.
I would do the flowers and butterfly. Thanks for the giveaway.
I would pixelate a heart. soparkaveataoldotcom
That's easy--Big Bird, of course.
Love the book.
Linda up Brodie82
I would love to Pixelate the cars theme and I truly love the butterflies. My grandson who is almost 2 loves cars and trucks and this would just be so much fun to do for him.
Thank you for the chance to win this.
sandyb720 at gmail dot com
Cars-cars-cars in different color for my grandchild
I would pixelate Donkey Kong!
Love the flowers on the cover. Thanks for the chance to win!
I think I would do some kind of a cow - my daughters favorite animal.
Fun, fun, fun! Endless possibilities here, but I'd probably try some of the plants from Plants vs. Zombies! Has a little Halloween flair even :-)
i'd pixel my cat - regnod(at)yahoo(d0t)com
I woul pixelate Hello Kitty! Terrific giveaway! Thanks.
Definitely a ballerina. As I got older, a horse.
I would love to pixilate my strawberry garden! Thanks.
I would pixelate my cat, Oliver.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Mario. Thanks for the giveaway!
I love the look of these quilts. It would be so exciting to win.
Would pixate either Dr. Who's Tardis or a LEGO minifig
I like to try Yoda or Pete the Cat (children's book)
Barb@Witsend
I would "pixel-late" the characters from "Yo Gaba Gaba" for my grandson.
Big Bird...could I do Big Bird?
My favorite character when I was growing up was Batman, and of course Robin. BAM! POW!
I would pixelate my little kitty, Dora! Be especially blessed, Kathy
I think I would have to pixelate Van Morrison!
I'd love to quilt a Mario and Luigi. :)
Making a Minecraft quilt would be fun.
Such a beautiful looking book - I would pixel several different butterflies and make a quilt for my daughter - a butterfly lover.
Thanks for the chance.
A huge Snowflake :)
I think I'd like to pixilate a bird and butterflies!
Dora the Explorer - my daughters current favourite.
Buzz Lightyear!
Ooh, that road map is very cool!! I'd love to pixelate Totoro. Hmm, I seriously just might do that very soon!
I think my little boy would like dogs, cars, planes, that sort of thing :) He has a favourite tv program, I bet he'd love the characters from that pixelated too!
Great question. Pixelate, love the word even. I would want to do a caricature of me playing tennis, but a real character I'd want to do is Edward from the Twilight series
I'd probaly pixelate Christmas themes (tree, present, Santa, Elf, Reindeer, etc) How much fun!
I'd probably pixilate Hello Kitty as my niece is nuts about anything HK!
I would love to pixelate a basest hound!
Very nice book!
I would love to pixelate Miffy.
I might be tempted to try to pixelate my own child...how fun it might be!
Sunflowers! They make me happy. Thank you for sharing...Judith, Texas
I would make princess peach.
What a fun idea! I think I would try a giraffe or I love the butterfly, dragonfly, and flowers quilt. So cute!
birds and hearts would be neat thanks
I just made a quilt using this technique and would love to do more.
My sister and her friend created an awesome giant pixelated pony with post-it notes, so I would have to say My Little Pony. :)
I'd like to see Miss Kitty pixelated!
This looks like a great book! I'd have to go with a pixelated Batman for my super hero obsessed 5th! Thanks for a fab giveaway!
I think some flower blcoks would be a nice thing to begin with!
hulseybg@gmail.com
I think the pixelville quilt is fun, but how about doing your own neighborhood??? That would be fun
I think it would be fun to make a pixel look of a person's face. Or Kick Buttowski for my son :)
I would do Mario brothers!
Might have to pixelate my fat, lazy cat!
a shark, for certain!
I just saw a pixelated Hello Kitty quilt that I would loooove to try - it was so fab!
Hmmm. What about words?!
I would love to try a doll house. It could be hard. But sometimes that is what a brain needs!
I would live to try snoopy
I'd love to do an image of my grandparent's farm. Maybe I should start with a flower.
A horse would be gorgeous
I would like to pixelate Timon and Pumba from the Lion King. They're great! :)
I'd like to do Disney's Ariel the mermaid. I think that would be so cute!
I'd love to do Hello Kitty. Seen a very good pixelated version on line, but the free tutorial was taken off by Sanrio!
I just love this book! I'm a Wizard of Oz fan so I would pixle the tin man, scarecrow, lion and Dorothy of course. Thanks for the chance to win.
I would love to pixelate a dump truck and school bus - my little guy would love those!
ourbusylittlebunch(at)hotmail(dot)com
I would love to pixelate Clay Matthews from the Green Bay Packers. I call him Thor and would love to do a Clay/Green Bay quilt. Like the one on Happy Zombie of Ron Swanson!
Something special for my grandson. Right now he's partial to frogs, alligators and monkeys!
I would pixelate a whale for my nephew Jonah.
Ooh! It would be fun to pixellate a smurf!
As a police and fire dispatcher, I'd have to do our emergency vehicles. Maybe our pink Breast Cancer Awareness fire truck ambulance and police car!
I would pixelate the photo of my dog.
Probably the hardest thing to do but I would pixelate a family photo.
I would pixel Snoopy from the Peanuts gang.
