Q: Congratulations on your sweet baby Carter! What is your favorite part about being a mother?
A: There are so many favorite parts about being a mom, but it's been really fun to watch him grow, change, learn and develop a personality. Every week it is something new - In fact just this week he has learned to give kisses. It's so cute, if you don't mind being slobbered on!

Q: What is the biggest surprise from Carter thus far?
A: Probably how much fun he is. I think I expected having a baby to bring so much work, but instead I mostly think about how much joy he brings into our lives.

Q: Do you see any baby collections in your future?
A: Funny you should ask - I'm doing a little boys line right now called "Here Fishy, Fishy". It comes out next summer!

Q: How has the design process changed since adding a little one to your family?
A: It's really hard to get time to focus on creative thinking without being interrupted. I realize now how much thinking time I used to have each day! I am going to have to learn to really focus during nap time, so I can get my designing done!

Q: Where did you find your original inspiration for this collection?
A: I like to make fabric lines that go with the decorating scheme in my house. The colors and prints from this line were inspired by my need for some summer quilts in my living room.

Q: What is your favorite print in the collection?
A: That's hard to say. If I have to pick, I will choose the large grey floral.

Q: Tell me about your sewing machines. What kinds do you have and how many.
A: I have three machines - My Bernina 1230, which I use for appliqué and projects which require a lot of accuracy. My Pfaff GrandQuilter, which I use for speed sewing. Lastly, my APQS Millennium, which I use to machine quilt all of my quilts.

Q: What is your favorite part of the fabric industry?
A: Probably the wonderful variety of fabrics that we have access to now. I just love fabric, with all their beautiful colors and designs. I never get tired of looking at pretty fabrics and trying to come up with a pattern to show them off.

Q: From what aspect of your life do you draw creativity?
A: Mostly from just observing the world around me. So often, I look around me and see quilt patterns or ideas for fabric designs. Just go to Spain or Italy, there are quilt designs all over! Some beautiful sidewalk designs in Spain inspired my "Spanish Tiles" quilt pattern.
