Deck-ade the Halls: Star-Studded

Today we are proud to introduce the next block in our Deck-ade the Halls Quilt Along! Your quilt will shine brightly with Star-Studded blocks scattered about.

We are huge fans of star blocks over at Fat Quarter Shop. We love the dazzling effect they give off in quilts! The Star-Studded blocks are no exception. The alternating dark and light fabric create an illusion of sparkle, and the blocks are scattered to bring that sparkle all over the quilt.

Download the FREE PDF pattern and to get started on your Star-Studded blocks! We think they look quite perfect in Aspen Frost, but you can download the fabric requirements to use any fabric you would like. We have seen blocks in blues, blocks in reds and a whole bunch more on our Flickr group. Get creative, and be sure to post your block photos to Flickr!

In addition to the FREE pattern, we recorded a little video tutorial to walk you through the block assembly. Watch Kimberly put the Star-Studded blocks together in our YouTube video! She shows you how to make corner squares and half square triangles, the two essential techniques in this block. The stars will come together in a cinch!

Check back to our Deck-ade the Halls page in two weeks for the Vintage Ornaments pattern and instructional video. Happy piecing!

Can't wait to get started. My fabric kit arrived while I was on vacation and now I'm enjoying time with my 4yr old grandson this week so I'll be playing catch up next week unless I can find time to get started this week.
