Where did you find your original inspiration for Flats?
A:
My inspiration for this collection was from my kids when heads starting coming off, literally! That would be paper doll heads. You see, my daughter, loved to play with paper, magnetic, and even cardboard dolls but there was just one problem with all three of these types of paper dolls... she had a younger brother. There is something about mixing boys with dolls... for some reason their heads always seem to come off. SO, Mom had to come to the rescue and save the day... or really to save my sanity and try to stop all the crying and screaming. Since I work in the fabric industry, I immediately turned to fabric and started designing fabric dolls. So begins, the world of Flats.

Q:
What TV show or movie does your collection fit best in?
A:
All of them! LOL! I would love to see my collection in ANY TV show or movie, but if I were to pick one, I think it would be fun to see it on Modern Family. They should really do an episode where Cameron is making the Flats dolls for his daughter or one of the kids is trying to learn how to sew. Just sayin'.
Q:
Tell me about your sewing machines. What kinds do you have and how many?
A:
All my sewing machines are Janome machines. My newest machine is the MC 8900 QCP and I love it! I also use my trusty old friend, MC6500P. My other Janome machines are a Serger 1100D and Cover Pro 1000CPX for any knit sewing.
Q:
What is your favorite part of the fabric industry?
A:
My favorite thing about the fabric industry is all the creative energy. I love how so many ideas can be inspired from a single product or fabric.
Q:
From what aspect of your life do you draw creativity?
A:
Wow, hmmm. I don't know, everything? Everyone and everything inspires me in one way or another to be creative. My kids probably bring out the most creativity from me.
Q:
What is your favorite print in the collection?
A:
All of them! HA! Okay, my favorite print from my Flats collection has to be the panels. I love the dolls (in sky and butterscotch) and the wardrobe (in grass and butterscotch) options. It is so much fun and unique from everything else out on the market. If I were to pick one print from the collection besides the panels, it would have to be the diamonds print (available in rouge, butterscotch, grass, slate and sky). It is simply a series of circles combined together that create little diamond shapes throughout the print.
Q:
What is your favorite colorway in Flats?
A:
My favorite colors in Flats have to be the red and blue colorways, especially when they are combined together. It is just very appealing to me and I love the way those two colors look. I love how all the colors work so well together and individually. They are very classic colors and prints and work so well with everything.
