Threaded and Paper Boat Regatta in Quilty Magazine

Hi guys! It’s Kimberly again! The new issue of Quilty just landed, and not one but TWO of my quilts are in here!! I’m so excited!!

The first is called Threaded, and holy cow I love how this turned out. I designed a more traditional-leaning quilt with tilted spool blocks, but jazzed it up all sorts of fun retro-mod colors from Carnaby Street fabric. Even though the colors are loud and crazy, it looks crisp and clean on white. I absolutely adore the prints in the sashing and spools, and Pat Bravo must be a mind reader, because she expanded it into a new Art Gallery basics group called Square Elements.

Quilty has it kitted for you, so pop over there if it’s calling your name.

The second is almost a 180 degree spin -- Paper Boat Regatta was inspired by a vintage boat quilt I saw. This one uses just four fabrics for the entire quilt, and in very soothing colors of white, gray, light blue and navy. I will never tire of antique quilts, and I’m glad that Quilty shares that love. It was fun to use just what is considered coordinates for this quilt top – no busy focal prints here! I hope it inspires you to try and use up those prints that aren’t in the limelight.

Pick up Quilty today – I’d love to see your quilts!!
