Astronaut Karen Nyberg's Star Block Challenge

International Space Station Expedition 37 Flight Engineer Karen Nyberg of NASA is a life-long lover of sewing and quilting. As an avid quilter, it does not shock us that she still quilts during her time in space. In honor of the 40th anniversary of the International Quilt Festival in Houston, she created the Star Block Challenge and invites quilters to join her!

To enter, quilters just need to create a star-themed 9.5" - square unfinished block. You can make it traditional, modern, artsy, or anything you want in any color scheme or technique but must not include any embellishments. If you're ready to join in on the fun, download the rules here and send your blocks to:

All Blocks are due on August 1, 2014
