How to Mix and Match Batiks and Prints with Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts

Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts is back on the Jolly Jabber to explain her process for mixing and matching cotton and batik fabrics. If you're not familiar with batiks, they are fabrics that are hand-dyed through traditional processes using wax and stamps. Just a glance at any of Edyta's quilts will reveal how she loves to mix and match fabrics when she designs, and the results are riveting. This concept has been around since the 1800s, when women would make crazy quilts by mixing all kinds of textiles such as silks, cottons and even drapery in their quilts.

In this video, Edyta demonstrates mixing fabrics using her fabric collection, Heart's Content, and she also discusses her basic rules for selecting a good variety of prints for your quilt. By following her guidelines, you can blend prints and batiks beautifully and seamlessly.
