We have a real treat for you today, Quilting Friends! Not only do we have a video tutorial that takes the "scary" out of curved piecing and FREE Daybreak Quilt Pattern for your quilting pleasure, we're also offering a fantastic giveaway!
This fun and informative video features Kimberly and a special guest: the sweet and talented Sherri McConnell of A Quilting Life. You'll learn how to create the curved piecing blocks featured in Sherri's Daybreak Quilt Pattern, which was designed exclusively for Fat Quarter Shop.
We were so in love with the Daybreak quilt that Sherri designed for us, we didn't stop at just one kit - there's a lap size AND a mini size. If you'd like to cuddle under Daybreak, you might also be interested in the coordinating backing set.
The fabric featured in the striking Daybreak quilt? Valley, by Sherri and Chelsi for Moda Fabrics. This mother-daughter duo have created a gorgeous collection based on the Southwest, where they live. The Valley fabric collection is also available in bundles and as yardage, should you decide to apply the beauty of Valley to a different quilting project.
GIVEAWAY!
We're pleased to offer giveaway prizes to 13 lucky winners! Sherri was kind enough to autograph all the items shown above: 8 quilt patterns, 4 mini quilt patterns, and 1 Valley Jelly Roll! Twelve of our winners will receive an autographed pattern, and the grand prize winner will receive the Oasis Pattern and the Valley Jelly Roll!

ReplyDeleteI love the tutorials!
ReplyDeleteThis tutorial is fantastic. I recently tried piecing an curved orange peel shape and it was a disaster. I ended up with a bunched up mess that stuck up like a bubble instead of laying flat. This video has inspired me to try it again using Sherri's techniques. I love the circles and would love to be able to piece these in my quilts without always having to appliques them on. Thanks for sharing these tips! My favorite Jolly Jabbers are the monthly ones with updates on all the projects your staff are working on. I love to see everyone's take on the various patterns using the fabrics of their choosing. It always inspires me!
ReplyDeleteWhat is my favorite kind of blog post, that is a tough one as they are all good and incredibly helpful. But, if I must pick just one it would have to be the tutorials, being able to see what you are doing is the best. Keep up the good work and I hope to see many more wonderful posts

ReplyDeleteI love all standards. I would be happy with any of them!
Thank you for caring!
Nina Dias
ALERT!!
ReplyDeleteI just printed out the pattern and pieced the two "background" pieces together
Do not attach at the dotted lines. You will lose a quarter inch.
Sorry. Really.
I printed it out at 100% so I know the final "background" piece should measure 9 1/2 inches? including the seams?
You know, in Virginia here.... it is raining and drab. What am I doing? farting around, printed out the pattern already and choosing fabric. haha
Happy Friday❤
I always read each post but my favs tend to be the new fabrics and patterns.
