It's Sew Emma Spotlight: Bordeaux


hi again. jolly jabbers. rachel here from ps i quilt.

i have a treat for y'all.
i'm still playing the mix traditional with modern game.

look at this beauty:


she's all dolled up looking perfectly traditional.
i love those traditional quilts, don't y'all?

i do love me some modern looking quilts too.

i love it when designs/patterns can pull off a double life, don't y'all???

we're going to give FIVE lucky peeps a bordeaux pattern of their own.

    For the traditional version, I would use Indigo Crossing by Minick & Simpson.

    For the modern version - hmmm... tougher to narrow down! I think I would use Ripple Salt Water by Tula Pink. I was also tempted by Meg Hawkey's Blotted Inkwell and Parson Gray's Babylon Seven Wonders.

  45. Such a beautiful pattern! Love the versatility of modern or traditional. It's cool to see the two together to see the variations you can get with one pattern and different fabrics.

    I think i'd try a low volume version using Camel & Fawn Creamery Neutrals by The Buggy Barn for Henry Glass Fabrics for the traditional version and Gypsy by Skipping Stones Studio for Clothworks Fabrics for the modern.

  125. For a modern, I'd pick one of the "All Hands on Deck", and make a cute kid-quilt ... For a (slightly) more traditional feel, I might choose batiks, like the "Totally Tropical Batiks" (Does that count as traditional enough?!) :-)
