It's Notion of the Month time! This month we have selected the Corner Cutter Tool by Perkins Dry Goods.
Cheryl Cohorn, from Fat Quarter Shop, will show us how easy it is to make flying geese units with the Corner Cutter Tool.
And don't forget the Notion of the Month is 20% OFF all month!

Our notion of the month for November is a clever little gadget that makes fast flying geese units with no fabric waste! This precision tool and technique makes four flying geese at one time! The directions are very clearly written and illustrated, giving you 8 different size options.
First, draw a line from corner to corner on the wrong side of each small square.
Stack the small squares together and place the Corner Cutter on the stack, aligning the diagonal lines with the raw edges of the small squares.
Trim the corner that extends beyond the tool.
Next, place the small squares on opposite corners of the large square, with the cut corners meeting in the middle.
Sew a ¼” on either side of the drawn line. Cut apart between the stitched lines.
Now place a small square on the corner of each triangle unit and sew ¼” on either side of the drawn line.
Cut apart between the stitched lines. Presto, you have four flying geese units in no time and with no waste!
You may never want to make flying geese units the traditional way again!
Well that is about the handiest little tool I've seen! Thank you for featuring it and showing how to use it.
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhhh wonderful tool...thank you
ReplyDeleteI've made lots of flying geese, using several different methods. So, I'm not quite convinced that this tool will save time. However, it looks like it might help improve accuracy. I'd have to try it before I would buy it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing us a new tool...I'm always looking for ways to make my piecing more accurate, and this looks super!
ReplyDeleteBoy do I need that right now as I am doing Block 22 of the Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt and it is the flying geese part that is causing me the most grief!
ReplyDeletecool!
