Quilty Fun Videos Part 1

Hello quilters! We have a special Quilty Fun surprise for you! During our trip to Utah to take photos for Lori Holt's new book, Quilty Fun, we managed to shoot a few tips and tutorials on film, too! So now, we have a whole slew of videos, sharing Lori's quilty wisdom with all of you!

We filmed a whopping 14 new tutorials in Lori Holt's sewing studio. Some are quick tips, like how to use Clover Wonder Clips, and some are a little more intensive, like how Lori organizes her scrappy stash. We know you will learn something from each video! Here is a peek at some of our new videos featuring Lori Holt of Bee in my Bonnet!

Lori Holt loves the Busyfingers 10" Rotating Cutting Mat. How brilliant is this little thing? It is perfect for squaring up blocks using small rulers! Just watch the video to see how it's done!

Here is a tip perfect for quilters on the go. Before throwing your scissors into a bag, cap the tips with a Clover Point Protector to avoid any damage! Thanks for the tip, Lori!

Lori also uses Clover Wonder Clips, which are used by everyone here at Fat Quarter Shop! These little clips make binding a breeze. Lori will show you how it's done in this video!

What quilter doesn't have a collection of rulers? Lori dishes about her must-have Creative Grids Square Rulers. She is the queen of scrappy patchwork, and these little rulers are perfect for cutting up her stash!

Save time and thread by chain piecing your blocks. Lori shows you how she simplifies her steps and saves that excess thread by chain piecing!

Every quilter has a favorite brand of thread, and we asked Lori to tell us all about hers! She is a devoted Aurifil Thread user and primarially pieces with color #2024 white, but will be introducing a collection of Happy Colors Thread to coordinate with her colorful fabric!

Another handy ruler is the Omnigrid 1/2" x 6" ruler. While that may seem like an odd size, Lori will you how she frequently uses it when making corner square triangles!

We hope you enjoyed this crop of videos! Check back tomorrow for a look at more Tips and Tutorials from Lori Holt, and be sure to pre-order a copy of Quilty Fun for 20% off!

  1. Thanks for the videos of Lori. I have learned so much from her blog and these videos are even better because you can see her demonstrate her tips.

Just a note on the last video: Your link for the 1/2 X 6 ruler goes to the 1 X 6 ruler. It looks like 1/2 X 6 ruler is only available in a set at your site.

  3. P.S. You should also provide a link to the Angler 2 ruler because when I saw Lori using it I wanted it to help with my piecing. I did a search and found it in several places, but then looked at your site and you have it too.
