Hello lovely quilters! We have Vanessa Goertzen today on the Jolly Jabber chatting about her Social Butterfly quilt. With a few fat quarters of your favorite prints (may we suggest, Gooseberry), you can sew up this whimsical flight of fancy. We are absolutely smitten with this quilt and it's so simple to make.
Want some great tips and tricks to piece the Social Butterfly quilt? Watch Vanessa's video tutorial as she sews her Social Butterfly quilt block.
We also created quilt kits and backing sets so you can sew up Vanessa's version using her Gooseberry collection for Moda Fabrics.
Oh, and did we mention the Social Butterfly quilt comes in a mini version? How cute!
Vanessa was generous enough to giveaway an autographed Social Butterfly quilt pattern and Social Butterfly Mini pattern to one lucky FQS fan! For a chance to win, let us know in the comment section what your favorite color combination of these butterflies would be. We will announce the winner on November 20, 2015. Thank you so much!

ReplyDeleteI'd love to change it up a notch since it's all square corners and 1) use camo colors in 'desert storm camo' shades of tan & brown with green. 2) use animal (tiger colors) prints and fussy cut the face & eyes so the butterfly shape has the face of the tiger with eyes in each of the wings, ears at the edges and nose in black becomes body of the butterfly .... just make it a more 'masculine' butterfly. 3) use irridescent/sparkly colors on a black background and make some throw pillows!
ReplyDeleteGreens and purples would be my choice! Love the mini version :) Thanks for the giveaway~ Juls mathrun1 at yahoo dot com

I love this quilt in Gooseberry with the happy pinks and greens but I think this quilt would also look amazing in browns/blacks and oranges with a cream background for a nice fall monarch feel. Or for a really different look, maybe even light colored butterflies on a dark background for something a bit more like moths at night (you could even throw in some embellishments with glow in the dark thread, maybe antennae or wing quilting) made with the mini block and set similarly to the pinwheels in the Shuffle Quilt.
