Barbara Brackman talks about one of our favorite, timeless prints on today's session of Flashback Friday!
Neat Stripes
Stripes
are a classic print with a lot of variety. Small, simple stripes were often
referred to as "Neat Stripes" a century or more ago.
A
neat stripe can be the background or the featured fabric, depending on its
personality.
Neat
stripes were quite the fashion for quilts and clothing after the Civil War, up
into the 20th century.
You
know how careful we all are at matching stripes? If you're going for a period look, don't worry so much!

Is this permission to allow our stripes to go all willy nilly? I don't know if I can handle that...
ReplyDeleteYes. Most of us just can't do it. But it certainly makes a reproduction scrap
ReplyDeletequilt look authentic.
