When I design a fabric line, I don't design it with any quilts or projects in mind, and it is the same with many of the quilts that I design. Unless there is a panel or large border print, I don't typically design a quilt around a specific fabric. However, when I got my shipment of Home to Roost and started playing around with it, I couldn't get my mind off of the rooster/chicken/bird theme that permeates the fabric collection.
There are a few projects in the book that are pretty heavily focused on that, such as the Home to Roost quilt, which not only uses the panel and large border print, but also incorporates the chickens with the pieced hen blocks. And that funny, surprised looking hen is featured in the quilt All Cooped Up. I love the polka dot hens! And because there is enough variation in colors with lightness and darkness, I was able to make the Night Shadows quilt work beautifully by using all but a few of the fabrics in the collection.
This book is a perfect complement to the Home to Roost fabric collection. And don't forget, Home to Roost (the book!) will be 20% all month at Fat Quarter Shop!
Roosters and chickens are not my thing but I sure love owls!!!!!!!
