From sea to shining sea, the United States is filled with a mix of American Homesteads. Ellen Murphy is long-time lover of house tours, garden tours, and historic tours. Her book, American Homestead Quilts was inspired by the United States' eclectic mix of cultures and diversity that reflects their home décor and style.
In this book, there are nine quilt projects that are inspired by iconic house styles from Brownstone and Saltbox to Craftsman and Farmhouses. Along with each quilt, Ellen also included some inspirational photographs featuring iconic American homes. These traditional and classic quilts are great for building your sewing skills, beginning with simple squares and working your way to more challenging diamond patterns. We absolutely love these traditionally pieced quilts that are perfect for any décor.

ReplyDeleteLOG CABINS!!!! I've always wanted to live in a real log cabin which is probably why my favorite quilts are also log cabins! What an interesting looking book!
ReplyDeleteMy inspiration would be my grandmother's house. It is circa 1940's, was originally 1 bedroom, but was built-on haphazardly as they needed more space. I recall fondly playing with her scraps in the enclosed back porch where her treadle Singer machine was located, and when it got hot in the summers, swinging on the front porch swing while eating an apple from the nearby apple tree.
ReplyDeleteThe Garden Cottage would be my choice. I love the colors! Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI am inspired by the traditional block quilt that is on the barn door. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI live on a lake, so I would have to say I'm inspired by a lakeshore cottage!
