  1. Thanks so much! I saw this on Ruth's at Charly & Ben's Craft Corner and printed out my free pattern. I have lots of layer cakes waiting to be loved, but I will be back to get me some charm packs. :-)

  3. Thanks for super pattern w/extended sizes!!!

Found the layers cakes and charm packs in my stash which will work to make a queen size quilt for the master bedroom. Also, thought I might use the matching print charm packs to the layer cake print with 2 1/2" solid squares[ created from jelly roll strips] to create a matching table runner with smaller scale blocks for the dresser in the master bedroom.

Kimberly, thanks again for your creativity regarding precuts. It is difficult to find patterns for them which require little cutting. Most patterns require cutting up the layer cake 10" square. As a result the fabric is not showcased.

  6. Can I ask why you press the seams open on this quilt?

  7. Well this has been a great post. Such fun looking at all the quilts made with the same pattern and different fabric line choices. Have to say my favourites were the ladies who did "boathouse" fabric and "mamosa" fabric lines. Really enjoyed this and will have to make one myself. Cheers to all who participated!

  10. Let me just say that I am so very impressed with all you do for the quilting community. To have given what, 20 bloggers free packs of fabric, the pattern, and the chance to blog about it, AND a gift certificate to have as a giveaway, thereby increasing their exposure, just blows me away. Your generosity and creativity in dreaming this up is exceptional. Thank you. :-)

  12. I'm very disappointed in the photography of the sample quilt. There is just no clear shot of the quilt...I can't tell a design or pattern from the way the quilt is folded, swagged, lying down, or hanging. The pictures are gorgeous, the lighting is perfect, focus and shits are clear, the colors are nice, but I can't tell what the quilt looks like. That's a huge factor in wanting to download or buy a quilt pattern, for me. If I can't see what the finished quilt looks like in its entirety, I'll pass it by.
Sorry, but that's my opinion. I had to download the pattern to be able to see a drawing of the whole quilt. Now I can see it's cute!

  13. @Rachell thank you so much for your opinion. We will take this into consideration when photographing our next Shortcut Quilts!

  17. Love this quilt pattern! A big thank you! It works with so many different colours and patterns. FQS, would you be so kind as to tell me what fabric you used for the binding on the quilt you made using the Whitewashed Cottage by 3 sisters for Moda? Thank you!
