Designer Tidbits: Winged by Bonnie Christine

One of the most anticipated collections for Art Gallery Fabrics is finally here! Bonnie Christine of Going Home to Roost is here to share more about her Winged Collection. This collection represents a season's fresh beginnings and the dawn of a new day to spread your wings and let your imagination fly free!

Q: Tell us a little about the Winged collection. What were you inspired by?

A: I have always noticed the first butterfly sighting of each spring and pause to breath in this moment. It's such a magical time, when the flowers begin to bloom, the weather warms and I can hear birds chirping outside my window. Spring also represents fresh beginnings and a dawning of a new season. It evokes a feeling of 'anything is possible'. Winged was inspired by nature, of course, but also this deeper sense of spreading your wings and soaring. I truly believe that all things are possible!

Q: What is your design process when beginning a new collection?

A: I always begin a collection with a theme in mind. I work pretty far in advance so I'm currently thinking of general theme ideas for the next few years! I then start collecting bits of nature, photographs and sketches that align with my vision. At some point, I create a mood board and sketch for days to round out the idea. Once the sketches are complete, I'm well on my way to having a collection!

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: I hope my style conveys a sense of sweetness that shows my love for nature.

Q: What projects do you hope to see made with Winged?

A: Since Art Gallery Fabrics recently introduce voiles and knits for each collection, I'm really excited to see some clothing and dreamy voile quilts made from Winged!
